How Obama Care Affects EVERYONE!

How Obama Care Affects Everyone!

No one, not Canadians or Americans on Medicare, are completely free of the consequences of Obama Care.

Because it is the largest participant in the health insurance market, America sets the worldwide price for medical services and health insurance. It is the elephant in the room and, when the elephant dances, the whole world takes notice and, eventually follows suit.

When the price of health insurance goes up in the United States, the rest of the world will follow. In fact, “when” and “will” are the wrong tense – rates have gone up dramatically and are projected to go even higher soon!

Whether you are for or against it, Obama Care has already raised the costs of health insurance in the States and the rest of the world is rapidly following suit.

The next shoe to fall:  On October 1, 2013, Obama Care will impose the mandatory purchase of health insurance on all American citizens – unless they are exempt, already in a qualifying plan or like me, on Medicare.

Sorting out who is exempt (Members of Congress and their staffs among others), and what the penalty for noncompliance will be, is not as simple as we hoped. If you are an expatriate, check with your tax preparer to see if you qualify for an exemption. If you are an American citizen who is in the States 30 or more days a year and are too young for Medicare, plan on buying domestic health insurance.

International medical insurance (including the products I represent, Patriot and Global), are not compliant with the additional mandatory coverages, taxes and administrative procedures of the Obama Care’s mandate.

It is not my intent to be too negative about the consequences of Obama Care. My intent is to help you plan for the future so you can relax and enjoy life in Vallarta!

You will find some reasonably fair and balanced information about Obama Care here.
And an entertaining, yet highly informative look at the high cost of health care, here.

Besides, it might not be as bad as it sounds as you can choose a domestic health insurance plan that meets the minimum Obama Care requirements and supplement its coverage with an international health insurance policy that fills the gaps left by your domestic policy.

What To Do in a Medical Emergency in Puerto Vallarta

Living here is different than vacationing here! Tourists usually do fine by watching where they walk and what they eat and drink. If something bad happens, they skedaddle up north.

Whether you are an expat or a tourist, here are three local resources that will keep your Vallarta Experience full of health and happiness:
•    Download your FREE copy of “What To Do in a Medical Emergency” from the Hospital Medasist website. It’s a very useful, perhaps even life-saving, 44-page brochure describing common ailments and their treatment. Every home – including your vacation home – should have a copy. Download your FREE copy here.  [Shameless plug: You might enjoy the video on the Hospital Medasist homepage almost as much as I enjoyed making it! Click here and turn up your speakers.]

•    Pamela Thompson is a wonder! More than a caring health professional, she will connect you with the right medical practitioner at the right time and at a discount! Pamela’s clinics and programs – lead by leading experts in their field – are “must attend’ opportunities for anyone concerned about the quality of their lives and peace of mind! Personally, I am awed by the common sense, service and value Pamela brings to our community. You simply must get to know her. Your life could depend on it! Click here: HealthCareResourcesPV.com.
•    Protect your health and your wallet with international medical insurance. The sad fact is most domestic health insurance policies fail miserably to protect you once you leave your home country.  Medicare and Canada’s provincial care are not designed to help you outside the country. The good news is that quality, affordable international health insurance is available to everyone!

Short-term Patriot Travel Medical Insurance is the ideal supplement to your domestic health policy. Patriot fills the gap so you can travel with peace of mind, worldwide!

Long-term, American-style Global Medical Insurance is for people without insurance back home. Global provides comprehensive protection in your home country and throughout the world!

September is the time to make sure you are safe and secure during the next high season. A once-a-year checkup of your health coverage is not only a savvy thing to do; it’s a no-cost and no-obligation service of PV-Health.com.

I’m scheduling one-on-one meetings to help you make an informed health insurance decision.  If you are already in Vallarta, we can meet in person, or, if you’d prefer, by phone or Skype. Email works, too.

Please don’t travel without health insurance. Bad things happen to good people, like you!
